Registrations are open for this year's SLANZA Conference, being held in your capital city and plans are afoot to give you a wonderful mix of celebration (we’ve been here for 20 years), friendliness, fun, fierce learning, good coffee, a chance to hang out with your fellow librarians and to be wowed by those you meet and listen to at the conference (or by the actual WOW if you want - it’s on at the same time).
Here is the website, so register for early bird rates now and check out the range of accommodation suggested. We are confirming our keynote speakers right now so it won’t be long before we can reveal our exciting line up. We are very happy! We hope you will be too. The SLANZA 2020 call for abstracts portal has re-opened and will close at Midday on Monday 24 February 2020. This is your opportunity to share ideas, knowledge, stories of successes (and failures) and much more to an audience of conference attendees. Go on . . . give it a go! Librarians are such good sharers. We look forward to hearing from you. The SLANZA Wellington Conference committee

We have your holiday reading sorted these holidays! Packed full of fantastic articles, Collected #25 has something for everyone. Read it now, or save the link ready for when you're on the beach or under a cool tree, with a nice cold drink.
It's time for our annual SLANZA Reading Survey! The Reading survey is important as it gives us all an overview of what our students are reading and where their interests lie.
We'd love you to share (anonymously) your libraries' top books, authors, series, magazines, NZ authors and books, and the best books for your reluctant readers. All the information gathered will then collated and shared with you through your SLANZA membership and via the listserv at the beginning of the New Year - 2020. The link below will take you to the questionnaire. Instructions on getting the statistics out of our most popular Library Management Systems (Accessit, Oliver, Athenaeum) are attached to this email. Please take the time to complete the survey - it's easy! 2019 SLANZA READING SURVEY FYI - You can view previous survey results on the SLANZA website HERE How-to guides - Find your most popular resources on: Athenaeum Accessit Oliver V5 Thanks in anticipation! We encourage you to share your story, whatever it may be, from why you got into librarianship, your trials and tribulations, your new and unusual ideas, a programme that worked or is working particularly well, your take of some professional development that you attended or read about, to anything that you think may be valuable to your peers. New ideas are welcome! Don't forget to check out our previous magazines for inspiration and ideas. ![]() Calling ALL SLANZA members! We need to hear from you. If you haven't filled out the NZ school library survey we strongly encourage you to add your voice now. https://ee.kobotoolbox.org/x/#GMLlIulm The closing off date has been extended until Sunday 1 September, please take the time now to have a say in your future. The data from this survey will be instrumental in providing us with evidence to help support school librarians and libraries - from pay equity negotiations with NZEI and the Ministry of Education, to advocating for libraries and librarians in schools. The more information to support our case the better, so please add comments wherever you can and feel free to be as honest as you can. This survey is a collaborative project with National Library, SLANZA and LIANZA and is our opportunity to gather data to support you. Thank you for your help and enthusiasm. We are looking forward to seeing all your entries for the LibraryTechNZ Display Competition. Please get in touch if you have any questions. Entries closing in 10 days.
The dates for the Wellington SLANZA Conference are Sunday 27 - Wednesday 30 September 2020. More information soon.
